Seven chamber works for low strings & marimba by the young Florence-based composer Marco Baldini - plus a bonus track, 'Bicinium', which is not on the CD, but which you can download on a 'pay-what-you-want' basis. Three of the pieces are derived from works by 16th century Italian composers: 'Corteccia' - Francesco Corteccia, 'Volta' - Luca Marenzio, 'Animuccia' - Giovanni Animuccia. The other pieces are original compositions by Marco Baldini, but their powerful, foreboding soundworld is clearly influenced by early music.
